The Amawalk Reservoir and Granite Pointe are home to some amazing species of wildlife, integral to helping our environment flourish and thrive. The following images were taken on or near the grounds of Granite Pointe by local residents. They include pollinators such as monarch butterflies and native bees, wood frogs and turtles. All of these animals play an important part in making sure that the forest and the reservoir remain a healthy, biodiverse environment. The more we destroy their habitats, the more at-risk we become because our quality of life is inextricably linked to the earth. In a short time since 1970, we have wiped out 60% of mammal, bird and insect populations in the area. It is time to wake up because what we do the the land, we do to ourselves.
